Differences between current global crisis and 1997 financial crisis

The World Bank released a report on the current global crisis. It highlights the situation on East Asia and Pacific.

As I noted in previous my post, both developed and developing countries are trying to deal with the crisis. Even the 20 countries of world biggest economic power have meet in London Summit to develop new collaboration steps for halting the recession.

At the same time, some organizations were proposing green stimulus packages. Within the stimulus plan, the issues of employment generation in green sectors are addressed. Hopefully more countries adopted the proposal as well.

World’s changes in fascinating animation of statistics

My understanding on world’s changes has been enriched by Gapminder who provides fascinating animation of  various facts. Gapminder presents the facts with animated bubble reflecting time series numbers such world’s population, world’s oil reserve, familiy number and length of life.

There’s a fact that some people always confused by table and numbers. Presenting facts with fascinating instruments without reducing key massages seems a good way for institution and organization who want to meet their goals with good understanding of their audiences or customers.

Help rural poor with energy efficient stove

A recent publication of national newspaper Kompas shows a finding of energy efficient cooking stove. The stove has ability to burn a kilo of fuel wood remaining only a small of ashes. Supriyanto, the creator, called the stove as Kompor Jimat or energy saving stove.

The founder made the stove from used materials enabling rural people get it easier. He designs the stove so it works efficient while burning the fuel wood. Mass usage of the stove will decrease fuel wood consumption; therefore sustaining forest resources.

Why we should care on the development of energy efficient stove on the rural area?
