Recent report indicates that millions of Americans will get needed help to quit smoking. Unfortunately the report also says that millions of other smokers still hard to get the treatments.

According to American Lung Association, every year 443,000 people die from tobacco-related illnesses and secondhand smoke exposure, making tobacco the leading cause of preventable death. Thus, quit smoking is the single best thing a smoker can do to improve his or her health. As we notice that smokers are most successful in quitting when they get help using proven treatments. The association released a report providing an overview of quit smoking services and treatment. Helping Smokers Quit: State Cessation Coverage shows services and treatment offered in each state by public and private health care plans and the impact of the federal health care law. The report will assist smokers to find quit-smoking resources.

American Lung Association’s site states helping smokers quit can actually be a money-saving investment for states. The association cites Penn State University’s study revealing that helping smokers quit not only saves lives, but also offers favorable economic benefits to states.
