You did a good job mentioning the mainstream groups. But the real legitimate in-the-trenches forest defense work happens with countless neighborhood forest defense group, as well as wildlife welfare groups, and most important of all indigenous peoples.

All four groups you mentioned have done good things, but because of their size and scope they too often lack accountability to the people and creatures in the same way as the people who live closest to their particular forest landscape...

What I'm trying to say is I could tell you about WalMart, Amazon, Best Buy, and Target and then say that this is how you are going to shop successfully, but there are so many options, so many mom and pop enterprises. Most green thinkers also tend to rather "buy local." Same thing goes with forest protection!

But also we need to protect all the worlds forest and that means all the world's peoples must participate both globally and locally and the best way to get involved is to begin to be way more curious about what it will take to make a difference!

Long live the trees, Deane
