ClimateLab: a wiki site of climate change issues

Wiki technology enables people to develop knowledge sharing system. If it managed properly, wiki technology could develop a credible sources that always check and recheck by relevant experts from any institution with different perspectives.

I note that the power of  wiki is the openness, it availability for people to share and confirm with others. However, it also addresses variance of data sources.  Someone could become contributor if he has sources, experiences or authority.  So called organization and university are important sources in a high level science issue such climate change.

I see ClimateLab has critical position amidst the growing issue of climate change.

Tips for conserving water

Did you know there are about 1.2 billion people live in river basins with absolute water scarcity? And a further 1.5 billion people suffer from inadequate access to water because of a lack of infrastructure. The numbers are taken from World Development Report 2008 published by the World Bank. Some areas face the greatest water shortages such Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

Because of climate change, there are more frequent droughts and increasing wa

ter scarcity throughout the world. People in developing countries

providing food from agriculture must deal with climate change. And what happen to people in more developed countries? Do they really aware on water issues?

Global warming, early spring and silent spring

Having reading Goddard’s article on Watts Up With That? then I begin to explore the relevant events on tropical country such Indonesia.

Goddard’s highlights on the recent early spring information, weather and its maps and some other claims.  By the way, do you still remember on the great book of Silet Spring? This book was credited as 100 books that changed the worldDiscovers Magazine named the books as 25 great science books  all the time. Thanks to the author, Rachel Carson, facilitated people alerting on the danger of chemical on the ecosystems.

Silent spring showed  uncarefull material usage affected the birds reproduction and thus changed their population. In the bigger case, the material related to green house gases are heating the earth and thus changes the world climate.
