The list of richest county in America is developed based-on annual household income data acquired from the U.S. Census’ American Community Survey. In similar term, individual wealth measured by the total asset owned, resulting the richest person on earth as published by Forbes.

At the higher level, the wealth of a nation is showed by the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita at nominal values. A national economic performance and the number of population will determine how a country’s wealth.

Looking at the annual household income at county level, it shows some interesting facts. First, most of the US richest counties are in the east; In west there’s Los Alamos, N.M –a county with nuclear weapon history. Second, four of the top ten richest counties in America are located around in the Virginia suburbs of Washington.
