Poverty and climate change

Some data show that poverty raised in the countries where it endowed abundant natural resources.  But the abundance isn’t key factor.  The recent factor discussed by experts is climate change.

Climate change may increase the number of poor people in developing countries. In this countries, they have less resources to adapt and mitigate climate change probles. That’s way, the most affected people by climate change is poor people.

In Indonesia, most poor people rely on agricultural sectors. They live in rural areas that closed to forests and other remote areas.  NGO’s and International development agencies should address this issue in right place. Some of them have been working for years and contribute good result.

Blog Action Day is an outsanting action to leverage athmosperic poverty eradiction. As the world become more parrallel, we need more breakthoroughs to make our world better.

Help rural poor with small scale bioenergy

There are ways of helping rural poor with energy-based projects, such energy efficient cooking stove to small scale bioenergy.

A joint study of FAO and DFiD shows, when produced on a small-scale in local communities, bioenergy can play a significant role in rural development in poor countries. The study refers to 15 bioenergy projects in Latin America, Africa and Asia involving 12 countries.

Most poor areas in rural area are depending on biomass for cooking and heating. About 80 percent of them sources from wood.

Slumdog Millionaire sweeps eight Oscars. This winning, however become hot debate in many forums around the world, blogs and our daily conversations. I notice some reactions that highlight poverty tourism in the debates. One of them is in NY Time blogs that addressing the debate and collecting more than 500 comments.
